The new issue of House Beautiful arrived on Saturday, and it was my happy discovery that it is dedicated to pink!
Pantone has chosen "honeysuckle pink" as color of the year. Swoon!
Longtime readers know that pink is my favorite color. Pink clothes, pink yarn, pink bike, pink flowers, pink phone, pink iPod...if a thing comes in multiple colors, I want the pink one. If the Apple people would only come out with a pink iPhone or Macbook, I'd be all over those too! I stop at pink houses and cars, because there is a taste factor involved. I also have refrained from painting any rooms pink. Not that I wouldn't love that (my "growing up" bedroom was always light pink til the day I moved out), but, contrary to the assertion on the HB cover, not all men (i.e. Chris) would love a pink living or dining room. I do have plans to paint the inside of my closet pink someday!
50 ways to go pink...I don't have any kitchen accessories in pink yet...love that Kitchen Aid mixer (how to use???!!!) and the pie-slice looking timer...
A pink extension cord would be useful, but I love the Kate Spade card case above it. The refrigerator (lower right) is a bit much, though, even for me!
Pink is such a cheery color for me; it helps cut through the gray winter gloom. When my invitation came through for Pinterest, the visual website, one of the first boards I created was of pink things -- flowers, rooms, table arrangements with pink flowers/linens/candles, pink dresses, pink cupcakes and desserts. It made me feel so much happier. I do have a few photos of blue things pinned, because my second obsession is sea blue/green, but this time of year, it is pink I must practice to keep me feeling good. Are other people as sensitive to colors as I seem to be? What color do you practice?
It would brighten up our dining room, but I don't think Chris would go for this shade on the wall...
Brown makes pink more masculine, and reminds me of chocolate shops, but I can't live with or wear brown.
Kara's post got me started on Pinterest, which reminded me of Polyvore, the fashion website. I'm not very good at the latter; I love all those "sets" people create with the fancy backgrounds and want to learn how to do it too. So far my things are on the boring white background, so if you know how to work this, or if you are on either of these sites, I'd love to hear from you and see what you are creating! You can find me under knitseashore.
I'm probably going to have to rip back a few rows again on the what-is-making-me-miserable Forever Tweed aka purple sweater. When I am mad at it, I knit more rows on the pink skirt. Maybe it will be ready in time for spring? And I know I keep promising some book reviews; for now I'll mention that I've started The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley, and am just loving Flavia, the precocious, bicycle-riding 11-year-old detective. If you've read Bradley's books, do you like them too?
Ooh! I have the Flavia book out of the library right now. I shall begin it tonight so I have someone to talk with about it!
And I have a red KitchenAid mixer and love it.

I like pink on clothes, accessories...things like that. However, not on my walls. lol That would drive me bonkers. (Now ask me what color walls my daughter insisted be in her bedroom. LOL)

There is a pink house in our neighborhood. Like Pepto Bismal pink...

I love pink. I have a pink bathroom and it makes oh so happy.
I have read the Flavia books and LOVED them. She is so darling riding the countryside, solving mysteries by bicycle.

Ooh, I'm a pink fan. We have a pink & burgundy bathroom - a 50's original. The longer I live with it, the more time I spend trying to figure out how to re-do it, without actually changing it.
I really liked the Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.

I'm glad you're enjoying the Bradley book; I haven't read any by him, although I've read a number of good reviews. I'm not sure I can stand that title, though -- NOT a favorite of mine! :)

I have no problem with pink houses, cars, or anything else! Have you seen those lavender-pink VW Beetles? I want one! Our dining room walls are palest pink on the top half, and mauve below the chair rail wallpaper border. Somehow I can't remember my husband complaining about it at all, though he refuses to have a speck of pink in his wardrobe.

Oh, Pink, pink, pink! What's not to love! I would totally do the house in peony colors and whitewash, but my husband is not so sure about all of that!

Oh, I do have to add...when we redid our bathroom, the pink tiles had to stay. And JR always comments about how much he loves that bathroom now with it's pink, white and gray...maybe there's hope for him yet!

Pink is one of my favorite colors, too. I have a fuschia cloche hat that I wear in the winter. It makes me (and others) smile, and brings a spot of brightness and warmth during the dull, cold winter months.

How you feel about pink is how I feel about green. Looks like this magazine has some great suggestions!
