I've started this week's blog post several times, but nothing I write seems in tune with my mood. There are so many things "in progress" -- the pink skirt I'm knitting, the books I'm reading, the planning for Pedal for Paws, the cycling training for a hoped-for Tri-State Seacoast Century in September. I have some meetings to attend for my business too. But mostly, I dream of the beach, and spending as much time as possible there. I found this poem (does anyone recognize the poet?) that explains my feeling of upcoming August exactly.
"August rushes by like desert rainfall,
A flood of frenzied upheaval,
Expected,
But still catching me unprepared.
Like a matchflame
Bursting on the scene,
Heat and haze of crimson sunsets.
Like a dream
Of moon and dark barely recalled,
A moment,
Shadows caught in a blink.
Like a quick kiss;
One wishes for more
But it suddenly turns to leave,
Dragging summer away."

That poem is so appropriate!
I misplaced your e-mail address, so will use the comments here to thank you for your kind note last week when the Garden Kitty died. I do indeed hope that GK, Tess, and Charlie have met and become friends!
We are still feeling pretty sad, but it is comforting to know that neither GK or Tess is still sick or suffering.
Thanks again for taking the time to write.

I know that feeling, but it will be the last days of Winter for me!!!
You must have The End of Summer Ennui. I hope it passes quickly and the end of Summer lasts a long time!!

Great poem!
I have a lot of things in process right now too (more than usual, even!) and so I think I understand how you're feeling. Have a great weekend, however you choose to spend it!

Lovely poem! What I like about August is that it's followed closely by September. ;o) Sounds like Shoreline Writing is taking off. I love the website.
