Memorial Day weekend marks my four-year blogiversary. I can't believe it!
In the time since the blog began, I have moved house, lost a job, started a business, lost our kitty Charlie to cancer, adopted Rainy & Rosie, began volunteering at the local cat shelter, and knit so many projects. But best of all, I have made many new friends, and you'll never know how important you are to me! I am looking forward to our next four years together.
One of my blog traditions is to make a summer wish list. I'll never accomplish everything on the list, but it's fun to try to do as many as possible.
1)I want to make the Vogue Knitting A-Line skirt, and hopefully finish it in time to wear it before Labor Day. I'm not sure if I'll participate in the Tour de France KAL with this project, though.
2)Two years ago, I did the twelve-week Artist's Way program. This summer, I'd like to do the sequel, Walking in this World.
3)More Sundays at the beach with books. A Rather Charming Invitation is at the top of the booklist, since it is such a summer adventure.
4)Long bicycle rides with Chris and friends, including a return visit to Block Island.
5)A visit to Cape Ann, to see the Seaside Knitting mysteries location in person. There is a 25-mile bike ride around the cape!
6)Grilling and eating outdoors, and at least one trip with the picnic basket. I bought it when I was first married, but we never seem to use it. Do you use yours if you have one? For what occasions? What food do you like to include? It seems like most everything needs to be refrigerated in a cooler instead.
7)Continue working on the garden.
8)Work on some sort of writing project.
9)Update my wardrobe. It looks so tired. There are ten things I wish I had knitted months ago, so I could wear them right now.
What's on your list? What do you dream of doing in July and August, when the sun is hot and the days are lazy and (seem) endless?
A Happy and Safe Memorial Day weekend to those in the U.S.!
Sounds delightful! We sometimes use our picnic basket when we go to Ravinia, an elegant outdoor music festival north of Chicago. Seriously, the rich north shore suburbs folks do some serious picnicking -- candles, crystal, champagne... the mind boggles.
We have to bring a cooler, too, but we have our dishes in the picnic basket, plus things like bread, cookies, apples. My favorite thing to bring is pre-cut baguette + smoked salmon + dill sauce.

That's my favorite part of summer...grilling out and eating outside. Of course, today it's rainy and dreary, so neither of those things are going to happen. lol

We received three or four picnic baskets as wedding gifts and never used any of them. I guess we never picnicked!
This summer I'm looking forward to eating fresh vegetables from our garden and picking flowers (that I haven't even planted yet!).

Happy blogiversary! Looks like a busy summer ahead of you. :)

Happy blogiversary. How time flies. Oddly enough, I don't do much during the peak summer months. I throw an annual garden party in June or July, but any traveling I do tends to happen in late May or mid to late September. But then again, I live in California, so I don't have a long winter to deal with.

Hi there and Happy Blogiversary! Would you mind if I stole your idea of a summer wish list? I like it, and yours is so happy and inspiring.
We have a picnic basket, but having said that, I have the sinking feeling that it is someplace in the basement, and probably/possibly moldy ... ick.

Delurking to wish you a Happy Blogiversary! Great summer wish list-- summer seems to fly by so quickly, I hardly have time to write one before it's gone. I have switched over to my cottony summer knitting, though -- Panda Cotton socks and a cotton lace sweater, certified beach knitting!

I'm glad I starting checking back in to my friends' blogs in time to wish you a Happy Blogiversary! That skirt is stunning - what a worthy goal! Have a fabulous summer.

I want to get some serious sewing done. A couple fun dresses, some tops, maybe even attempt pants. Good luck on your list!

Happy blogiversary! Much has happened in your world.
I have a picnic basket all decked out with plates and cutlery, etc, and we have used it ONCE in umm 8 years? Partly because there was no way to wash everything and we were away for a long weekend. Eww!
In the short days of July and August, I want to get over chemo and get better!

Happy Blogiversary to you!
We also have a picnic basket given to us as a wedding gift that's seen very little use. You've inspired me to haul it down from the basement shelves if the rain ever stops!
This July and August I'll be turning my thoughts to preparation for childbirth and motherhood above all else. So I'm wishing for a suitcase of courage the size of an old-fashioned steamer trunk! :)
