The long-awaited hallway makeover photos!
Before:
The lower hall, back of front door
Going upstairs, via nasty carpet
Corner by coat closet. Gray green walls.
The upstairs hallway. This sage green paint looks like smashed pea green at night.
Out comes the carpet! And the pound of sand trapped underneath.
The floor was in better shape than we thought, even with all those staples to take out.
The stairs are in decent shape, but I hope to put a carpet runner on them one day for safety.
After:
Cream color walls for downstairs and upstairs
The corner by the coat closet, looking brighter
I'm not crazy about the dark stained wood floors, but for right now, the project made a big difference for a small amount of money. Someday I hope to replace the carpeting in the bedrooms with hardwood floors; there is nothing underneath the carpet in there but plywood, so for now it has to stay.
I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend if you live in the U.S., and a restful time whatever your plans may be. Happy Summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the new wall colour. And ripping out the carpet was a good idea. Small holes in the floor can easily be covered with coloured wood putty (so I've discovered ;)

I actually like the dark wood. It gives an authentic richness to the vintage turned banister. Very nice!

The hallway looks great!
In your last post - love how the scrapbook turned out - I know the feeling about having so many pictures that need "dealt with" - it's never ending :)

Wow! That looks great! I have a great affection for the dark wood floors, truth be told. They always seem to have such "history..."

It all looks great! I'd take hardwood floors in any shade over carpet any day.

I really like how the project turned out. I love wood floors - it made such a difference when we put them in in our house. We haven't done it yet in all of the upstairs (still have some blah carpet up there, except for in my knitting/sewing room, where we put the hardwood floors in) but I want to eventually.
