When we were driving to one of the beaches on Cape Cod on Sunday, we passed this sign:
I could think on that for days.
Here is a photo of our b&b, Agape, in Yarmouth:
It was so cozy! Delicious food, a fireplace in our room...I could have stayed all week. As it was, I didn't feel like we had enough time there to really appreciate all the comforts they offered.
Here is Nauset Beach, taken by Chris. In fact, all the photos were taken by him, since it was too cold for me to get out of the car! The wind was especially strong on the beach.
Here is the Nauset Lighthouse:
And the Three Sisters, moved off of the shore and safely in the...woods?
An explanation (click for readable size):
As short as our time was there, the change of scenery (and someone else cooking meals) helped me to feel rested and somewhat restored by the time we had to head home. The sea air, cold as it was this time of year, helps me tremendously. Where do you go, or dream of going, when you need restoration?
Nauset Lighthouse - is so beautiful - I was there last year :)

Amen, M. Camus! Invincible Summer would be a good name for a blog or a memoir, don't you think?
I'm glad you had such a cozy and bracing holiday. The sea is best for restoration, in my opinion. But then it surrounds my childhood home, so maybe I'd feel that way about the prairie had I grown up in Iowa? Anyway, the first scent of it when I climb out of the car in the ferry line is enough to set me up.

Oh how wonderful!!! It must have been so great to have a little get away. Pea and I went to the Cape last summer - it was my first time there and I loved it.
When I need to feel restored, I escape to my best friend's house in New Hampshire and snuggle on her couch in front of the fireplace. Aaahhhh.

But I don't feeeeel like I have an invincible summer inside! ;o) Sounds like you had a great little escape. It's nice to see that there is blue sky somewhere!

I'm glad you had a good time! I love the beach, but I feel the most restored when I'm in the mountains. Walking in the woods and taking the time to listen to the leaves flutter and the birds sing makes me feel good.

I do so envy you. My Father was in the US Lighthouse Service and later the US COast Guard. I was raised on tales of lighthouses and lightships. When ever we come north you will have to "lighthouse" crawl with us.

There was actual "ground" in those pictures! Ground without snow all over it! My goodness...there is hope for summer! Thanks for the glimpse of something that isn't white. I needed that...

I'm so glad your getaway was restorative! When I can actually take the time for the trip, I love going to the Black Hills all by myself for hiking and biking. For more mundane restoration, biking or walking around the local Chain of Lakes is often helpful.

I love that sign! That's awesome! I may use that!

What a wonderful getaway!
When I need restoration, I usually head out for a run on one of my favorite paths. I have run on one particular bike path since I was in high school and did a great deal of my marathon training there, so I have logged many miles. I know just about every tree, every gulley, every spot on that path. The quietness and familiarity always relaxes me.

Ah. The Cape in late winter. Glad you had a good time away.

Sometimes all it takes after a long hard day is to come home to my comfy home. Or, in better weather (what is that green stuff on the ground?!) head down on my bike to the lake or one of the cycling trails.
I'm so glad you had a good, relaxing time off!

Lovely photos!
I dream of going to a coastal cottage in Scotland. Sitting in a nice garden or along the shore, taking in the scenery, knitting, reading, or just daydreaming as I see fit. One day soon, I hope.

"Invincible Summer" I like that! My restoritive treatment is any place where nothing is expected - no planned activities, I don't have to entertain or be entertained, I can just sit somewhere with a nice view and read or knit or stitch.

Sounds like you had a restful trip. Enjoyed your pictures.

I'm glad you had a good time on the Cape! We just went down to FL last weekend where it was in the 70's, which was wonderfully refreshing even after Cape Cod's relatively mild winter.

Looks like a wonderful weekend, Debby. The ocean is even beautiful in winter, probably because in it, there is an invicible summer. I need you to send me your new email address, Debby...I have a bounced email and have to send you a Special Swap update.

It sounds like a wonderful weekend! I'm so glad you came back feeling rested. I like to get outside and go hiking, preferably away from civilization.

What a lovely trip! Thanks for the bit of history -- it was fascinating.

Sounds like a nice little break.
Hmm, I like to Get Away when I need a break. Get away from people, traffic, noise... The coast is good, but so are the mountains. Anywhere, almost, where I don't have to hear constant chatter or cars.
(Margene, Zeneeedle is asking similar things. Maybe it is endless winter or early spring that does it?)

Sea air is always good for me as well. If I need restoration, I always head to a beach!
