I finally finished the back of Caroline. The left and right fronts are on the needles now.
The Noni bag is nearly done, but I'm still struggling with the seams on the sides where you pick up stitches. I want to finish both of these projects yesterday so I can get started on something for spring!
Last Saturday, I had a special treat. Chris gave me a gift certificate to a local day spa for my birthday, and I had a facial. It felt wonderful on my skin, which can get red and irritated from rosacea plus the dry winter weather. I'm sorry I don't have more photos for you, but it was pouring buckets outside, and very dark inside. This is the main door, under a carport. Fun to pretend you are a lady of means, and have your driver leave you at the door. Since my driver was off that morning, I parked my own car in back and walked. :)
I'm in one of those moods lately, with all the drab weather, where I need a little glamour. I love those vintage films like Indiscreet with Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman, To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, or Come September with Rock Hudson and Gina Lollabrigida, with the sunny Italian scenery and lush villa scenes. Oh to be transported into those worlds! Since I've been working on genealogy, I particularly like the films set in Italy (or Hollywood's interpretation of Italy!)...if you have any favorites you could recommend, please let me know.
GYGIG fundraising update: our total for our first week is $155. Thank you so much!! Yvonne has four more skeins available of the special Charlie's Yarn to honor our kitty's fight with IBD. If you'd like to be entered in that drawing, please click on the GYGIG button on the top left column for details on how to make a donation. Thank you!!
Hey, I have rosacea, too - care to share some of your product secrets with me? I have one bottle of my facial cleaning stuff left (Zia Aloe Citrus - they reformulated...) and things are looking dire...

I watched Fellini's La Dolce Vita a few weeks ago, but it was in black and white (and not exactly uplifting, or so I thought).
Oh, have you ever read/listened to A Year in Provence? I know that's France, not Italy, but it was pretty mellow.

I know it is a much more modern movie, but the new Casanova has some great shots of Italy. How do I know? Well, when I was in Italy one of the places that I got to visit was a place that handwove silk jacquard called Bevilacqua. They told us there that they had just finished shooting the movie there and that some of the weavers were even in the movie in period dress. I was so thrilled when the movie finally came out to see some of the same places I had been!

Pretty sweater or is it a shell?
Come September - I haven't thought of that movie in ages...
Let's see - how about -
Three Coins in A Fountain (I think that is set in Italy)
Under the Tuscan Sun with Diane Ladd
Rome Adventure with Troy Donahue and Suzanne Pleshette
You know now I am going to be on a search for these old movies!!!

Oh, a good Cary Grant binge sounds like just the ticket. I'm off to frontload the Netflix queue for Spring Break!
Caroline's looking good. I can't wait to see how it comes out - I took a look at the pattern for a yarn store customer one day and was baffled to find the smallest size was 40" - after felting, apparently! But it didn't look that big on the model... Anyway, I'm glad you've got it sorted!

Glad you got a fun day!

Poem for Debby:
Caroline is looking fine;
A spa visit sounds divine;
Welcome Spring - let the sun shine!

Love Caroline. What I love about Ravelry is seeing a pattern that I love like that and "poof," it's in my favorites! I can't wait to see it completed.

Caroline is looking good! Your spa day sounds like fun. I haven't had a lazy day watching old movies in a long time. Unfortunately I'm not good at remembering anything.

Your sweater is going to be very pretty. The color is lovely, and so is the pattern.

Cary Grant = swoon. I love the Caroline! It's going to be gorgeous on you.

Mmmm, a facial sounds WONDERFUL! Lucky you...
And Caroline is lovely too - you can't go wrong with any shade of blue.

Caroline is very pretty! It'll look wondersul when real Spring finally gets here. I love Cary Grant, too, especially in the "sillier" roles like "Arsenic and Old Lace".

Yes! More of Caroline, please, especially the scary finishing.
I heart "Notorious" with Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman.

What about The Leopard (Il Gattopardo? Starring, oddly, Burt Lancaster. It's a long and at times (I think) boring film, but you can't go past the Italian scenery in it.

Sweet Caroline, good times never seemed so good.... So pretty, Debby! Isn't spa day the best?

Caroline is lovely, love the lacy pattern. I am waiting very patiently for the Noni Bag!! It is very hard!!!
Oh, those films do conjure up a wonderful warmth and sophistication!!
