photo taken by Chris, on our first evening bike ride last week
Three weeks ago today (Friday) we moved books, bikes, cats, and yarn, along with a few other essentials, to our new house. Our closings went pretty smoothly. The cats did not enjoy riding in their carriers, especially not through a bad traffic jam on the highway, nor did they enjoy being locked up in a strange bathroom while we emptied the huge moving trucks. Once we let them out at the end of the night, they were curious to know where they were, but relieved to see us and their things reappear. I can only wonder what they thought as they witnessed everything disappear in the old house little by little, until only they remained! Their relationship has improved -- Charlie not only hasn't hissed at Timmy anymore, he actually climbed into the larger carrier with him when both were sequestered in the new bathroom.
Is it just me, or do things take much longer than you think when you move? Chris and I had to go back to work after about a week, and we are still unpacking (though almost finished). Probably the huge work project I went back to, and the Tour de France knitalong, took a little of my time, as has the painting of the living room. Just as soon as we're done, I promise photos, including one of the lovely package Beth sent me as a prize for winning her blog contest on creativity. In the meantime, here are a few more of Chris' amazing photos of our new seashore. We're so happy to be here at last!
Congratulations, it's beautiful!!

Oh, it looks absolutely stunning. I'm glad the move went smoothly!

Welcome to your new home! The local scenery is lovely. That is sweet how the kitties have made a truce, at least temporarily, in the new surroundings.

Welcome home! And your new seashore is nothing short of lovely. I was not aware of the Moving Phenomenon Effect on cats! Maybe my two could find the love if we changed locations...

It looks like such a lovely place. Not only do things seem to take longer, possessions seem to increase. It's always amazing to me how many boxes it takes to pack up a kitchen. Before you start, it doesn't seem that bad. But by the end, you're wondering how you fit everything in your cabinets!

It's nice to have you posting again! Congratulations on your new home. The beach looks serene and beautiful!

Congratulations on your move! You deserve all the happiness this new place will give you. Yes, it does seem like things take forever when you're in the throes of moving. This too shall pass. When we moved a few months ago it was our youngest kitty's first move. More thing stayed under the bed for a solid week! Then she tentatively took steps out into the house the next week. Finally, she found her way outside and discovered the treasure trove of delights in the woods across the street. Now she's probably the happiest animal in the household :)

Congratulations with your new home! I hope you will be very happy. I don't know about others, but for me it takes a couple of years to feel settled in a new house. (I know I have too much stuff) :)

So happy to hear that your move went smoothly and that the cats handled it well. I was thinking about you just the other day and wondering what you were up to. I though maybe the Tour KAL was taking up all your blogging time.
Your new views are beautiful--thanks for sharing them.

So glad you're moved and everything went well! I'd decided that if you didn't post today, I was going to go looking for you via email, comments to the last post - whatever it took. I'm not known for my patience! Glad the kitties seem to be getting along better. And the move didn't seem to upset Charlie's tummy?? So great to have you blogging again!

Beautiful! Let me know when you're ready for visitors and I'll book my ticket! It's so cute that the trauma of the move forced Tim and Charlie to seek one another's company!

Oh, I'm so jealous. Beautiful pictures of your new shore!
It always seems like it takes oh so long to move. I'm glad the kitties are doing well.
I hope you guys love it.

Yay! So glad that you are back. Congrats on a successful move. I know--all too well from too many moves--how stressful and exhausting moving can be. I am about to start moving into my Haight apartment and am not looking forward to it at all (b/c of 4 flights of curving stairs!!).

I'm glad to hear the worst of your move is over and you are getting settled in. It takes time.... but I bet you're going to be there for a while...so you have time. :)
Your new seashore is beautiful!

lovely photos! One word of caution on the Dive Teseo -- impossible to frog!!! I knit a long scarf with it and then decided to tear it out to do something that would show off the colorway better--it shredded :(

Congratulations on your new home! How far do you have to travel from it to enjoy that lovely seashore scenery?
Good luck pushing through that last bit of unpacking. At least it's better than packing, although there generally aren't any looming deadlines (like a moving day) to motivate you to finish it.

God what a gorgeous view, and it's all yours! Congrats on moving house, such a major hassle...

Oh, Dear Debby...I'm so glad you are moved in,at least! The boxes will take some time...shove them all in a room and then go from there..then you have just one room that's a mess! It's good to see you on your blog!

I'd say it was worth it to move someplace that gorgeous! And yes, it definitely takes longer than you think it will. I haven't moved personally in a quite a while, but I did have the pleasure of moving a public library TWICE in the last few years. Oy.
Glad you're moved and the kitties are settling in.
