I had a fun knitting post all set to share on Saturday, but it needs the photos that are stuck in our camera. So please pardon this photo-less post until we get that straightened out!
I'm making good progress on the hoodie armholes and hope to have a photo of that soon too. But for now, I'll give you the...
Charlie Update
Charlie had an X-ray on Friday at his regular vet office in preparation for the Radiocat treatment. The doctors at the clinic will be reviewing all his test results in the next few days, and letting us know if there is anything else we need to do. Barring surprises, we'll take him on November 14 to the clinic, where he'll have the iodine injection for his thyroid. He and his radioactive self will have to stay for 3 days until it passes out of his system, so all of us at the seashore will be miserable until he comes home. Except maybe Tim, who will love the chance to be alpha cat for a little while.
C and I decided to take our house off the market this week. We've had lots of people tour the house since August, but no offers. I've heard that people who are managing to sell their houses around here have had to reduce the prices drastically, and since we don't *have* to move, we thought it best to wait until spring. It's disappointing, but I'll try to believe that it means the perfect house for us just isn't ready yet.
In my now-regular Saturday tradition (but it is Monday!), here is Booking Through Thursday:
- Do you make notes in books as you read them? Heavens no. (wincing at the very idea) (Pay attention C!)
- Why or why not? I don't like defacing the book pages, particularly if they are books that are printed on good paper, or books that are classics. Also, if the book outlasts me, or is weeded from my collection, the next reader probably does not want to see my thoughts on the text. They should be free to form their own. This, C, is what journals and palm pilots, or even post-its, are for. (My dear C, it pains me to admit, ravages book pages with his written notes. And folded-down corners. Other than that, he is a nearly perfect husband, LOL).
- If you do, do you make notes only in certain kinds of books or all of them? Crossword puzzle books. Lesson workbooks. That's about it.
Thank you so much for your votes on the red vs. pink bicycle dilemma in my last post. I will let you know soon which one I choose!
Edited to add: Seeing our neighbor's cat outside just now reminded me to beg you all to PLEASE keep your animals, particularly cats, particularly black cats, indoors tonight -- mischief night. There are too many sick people out there that want to do harm to them. I hate even having to post this, but, if it saves one life, it will be more than worth it. Here are some other safety tips from the ASPCA for pets for tomorrow...
Don't you know I expect a picture from every post?! ;) Hope Charlie will be well and chin up on the house front. Just think, you don't want to be moving during the holidays! Anyways, I'm a folded-down corners person myself, but never with the notes. I don't get that - I read just for enjoyment.

The housing market has gone down the drain around here. There are houses selling but mostly those in the lower price range, aka under $100,000. I think waiting to next spring is a good decisions, hopefully things will improve by then.

I was going to ask you about your house! I think waiting until spring is a good idea. I hear the market is better in the spring anyway. Plus, you'll have a fresh batch of home buyers.
I hope everything goes well with Charlie. Give him a cuddle for me!

Keeping good purrs for Charlie. Will Tim miss Charlie? I didn't get to vote on your new bike - sorry. If you're accepting late votes I choose red. A pink bike reminds me of Barbie decals and a flowery basket on the handle bars. Just a personal opinion.

thanks for the reminder. Our cat is black (ans called Spooky!).
Good luck Charlie!

Excellent point about pet safety. Not every community has a "mischief night" and it might be helpful for those who don't know about it.
Will be thinking good thoughts for Charlie!

I'm sorry you won't be moving closer to my neck of the woods, but I know how difficult the current market is. Best wishes to Charlie! My husband drives me nuts by keeping his place in a book by laying it open, face down, instead of using a book mark. Though that is possibly better than turning down page corners. Still crossing my fingers that you'll end up with a pink bike!

I'm glad to hear you have hoodie progress! I started the second front, but I'm having trouble staying inspired. Best wishes for Charlie!

Awww, that will be tough for Charlie, and I am sure Tim will miss him, too. I think you will definitely have better luck with your house in the spring.

Sending get well wishes to Charlie!
If you're still debating bikes, I read somewhere that the gearing on the Fuji's are well designed for the female body... more comfortable on the knee. I'm still debating if I'm ready to start biking, but I've looked into them a bit. They both look fast... does this mean you'll be racing too?
