Dream in Color Shrug

Because I need comfort knitting...

Shrug

...or maybe just something pink on the needles?

The summer issue of Interweave Knits arrived in my mailbox yesterday, though I'd seen the previews online last week. None of the projects call out to me as "must knits" -- what do you think? Other than the sand and sea projects, the colors don't seem particularly summery, but more autumn-like with the rusts and golds. And though I love green, and lace, there was nothing that needed to be added to my Ravelry queue.

In a recent issue of Simply Knitting, however, there was a Louisa Harding cardigan called Beatrix, taken from her new book Dauphine, that I think is pretty. When I looked at the patterns in this book online, there were several other sweaters that I could see myself wearing, especially Sophie and Terese (click link for Dauphine, and a selected list of patterns is available for viewing). They speak to my inner girly-girl. And I finally got to look through the Pretty Knits book at the LBS, which I may need to get someday too. If you have this book, please let me know if you like it, and if the patterns are well-written.

It looks like it will be a rainy weekend, so no bike riding or gardening will be happening at this corner of the seashore. But there is a new Patrick Dempsey movie out that looks good!

I just saw a finished Dream in Color shrug on Sittin' Here Knittin'. It's a lovely pattern. I like Dream in Color's colorways. Nothing in the Summer IK called out to me either. Sometimes I change my mind though once I start seeing FOs on blogs and Ravelry.

I've got that pattern too, but I'm thinking of doing it in black. I'm not called by any of the IK patterns either, but sometimes it takes seeing someone's FO to get excited about magazine patterns.

How fun to cast on something new! I hope you have time for lots of knitting this weekend.

Mmmm, that's a pretty pink. The weather's nice over here :) Hubby had his mtn bike tuned up (actually he had his disc brakes replaced and the derailleur de-gunked) so he's taking it out for a little spin tomorrow to make sure everything's working. On Sunday, he's going to ride at least half of the Test of Metal race course. Only 6 weeks left before race day and he hasn't ridden off road since last year's race.

Ha! I cast mine on yesterday, too!

(I can now say with authority that my yarn is purple -- it sort of looks like dapply grape koolaid.)

Beatrix is really pretty and would look really nice on you, I think.

The only thing I saw that was interesting at all was the pair of socks. I was kind of disappointed. I did see some things I liked in the summer Vogue.

The shrug looks like just the thing for comfort knitting.

Enjoy your weekend, even without the riding!

Patrick Dempsey is from Maine. Sometimes he comes back for a visit. And then I forget all about knitting. I also forget my name and where I live.

He is sort of cute, you know...

That looks like a cute & cozy shrug. There wasn't anything in the new IWK that I wanted to knit, either.

I was pretty disappointed in the latest IK.

Cute shrug!

I haven't seen that pattern, but at this point I am curious about how it will turn out. . . it might end up in my queue! And I agree about the new IK. I liked some of the things in the ads, but none of the patterns called to me.

I like Terese especially (though perhaps not in the color(s) shown). Enjoy your pink knitting!

What's the yarn for your shrug? It looks soft!

The shrug looks like a fun little knit, and pretty too.

I'm with you on the comfort knitting - I think that shrug will be pretty. I want to see that Patrick Dempsey movie too!
