First, a few blooms from the garden:
These are for Kristen, who treats us to her pretty lilies every post. And below is some phlox (hard hit by the heat) and some yarrow:
And, yesterday, a box of summer delights arrived in my mail, from Jody:
We did not know each other before Karen's summer swap, but Jody seems to know my taste pretty well -- pink and seashells! Thank you, Jody, for the thought that you put into selecting my swap presents. They are so pretty. Your box is on its way!
You might think that today's green type is in honor of the garden photos above, and it could be. But it is really in honor of my new favorite cyclist in the Tour de France (C-- stop laughing at me...), Floyd Landis. His team colors are green and yellow, but I don't want to subject you all to blinding yellow type, so I'll stick with green. Please understand that never before now have I liked or followed any sport of any kind in my entire life, and don't even have cable TV to watch them. It is as much a surprise to me as anyone. But watching Floyd make the most courageous comeback yesterday (well, if you call the running IM-ish text on Velonews.com watching "live coverage". I had to put up with that until local friends took pity on us, and invited us to watch OLN with them last night), after all the naysayers said his chances were over, just inspired me beyond all imagination. Seeing him power up the Alps mountain with no help at all from teammates, and a bad hip too...then crossing the finish line with little fanfare, picking up his bike, and walking off...that was the classiest, awesomest way to prove everyone wrong, and prove to yourself that you could do something seemingly impossible, that I have ever seen. So if I post no more knitting progress this weekend, you know who I'll be watching. Go Floyd!!!!

The flowers are so pretty and the summer swap package looks like it was fun to find in the mail. Floyd is amazing!

I watched the race where Floyd bonked less than 15 km from the end of the race--8 min back of the yellow jersey. Seemed impossible for him to recover.....according to the 'experts'. Then I watched Thursday--picked the race up just as he looked back at Perrerio (sp) to see if he was coming or not. Not was the answer. And Floyd was off. Truly an amazing feat! Looks like today's time trial should be on now, I'll have to tune in. So sorry you can't watch it live.

What great garden pictures, I don't really follow any sports, but I'm glad the guy you wanted to won.

Congratulations to C & Go Floyd!
J is a bike rider too, so he's been staying up to watch the start of the live coverage and watching the rest of it on tape the next day, then watching the highlights program at 6pm as well, I think I'm just about Toured out!
